MCP killed Muwalo today
On 3 September 1977, politician Albert Andrew Muwalo Gandale Nqumayo was hanged to death by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) after a staged Traditional Court hearing at Kwacha in Blantyre.
He was arrested alongside his relative Focus Martin Gwede in 1976 on very unclear grounds. That time Gwede was the Head of the Police Special Branch. Gwede was reprieved, but Muwalo was hanged to death on 3 September 1977.
Muwalo came from Ntcheu District and was of Maseko Ngoni parentage. He died at the age of 47.
