Opposition No More To Abuse UNIMA For Political Gains As APM Approves Unbundling
Malawi Opposition Party’s are bitter with the development of unbundling the University of Malawi to make each constituent college independent, owing to the fact that they will no longer abuse Unima students and lecturers who are agents of opposition part’s to advance their political agenda.
This follows an approval by President Mutharika who was the Chancellor of University of Malawi to have UNIMA unbundled.
The development has been described by many as a change towards better education system delivery and to reduce the delays which students were facing to accomplish their studies when UNIMA colleges were going on strike, affecting other colleges which were not part of the political madness which the opposition was pumping into UNIMA students in the course.
Opposition parties in the country were fond of using UNIMA for their political reasons through partisan student unions and lecturers later putting the blame on government.
University of Malawi had four constituent colleges namely : Chancellor College in Zomba, Polytechnic and College of Medicine in Blantyre and Kamuzu College of Nursing in Lilongwe.
Since Bunda College of Agriculture was unbundled from UNIMA and became part of LUANAR, the colleges have tremendously made a lot of achievements and generated more money through research while other colleges were busy politicking.
