APM Says DPP Is The Only Party Remaining In Malawi As Chakwera Sells MCP To ‘Monger’ Sidik Mia At K 200 mn
President Prof.Arthur Peter Mutharika has told Malawians that ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), is the only party remaining in the country, aimed at improving their livelihood and socio-economic development.
Mutharika was addressing thousands who had gathered at Biwi- Triangle in Lilongwe, to welcome him from the Southern region where he had gone for official duties.
Speaking before them, Mutharika told the nation that Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is finished and they must forget that anything good can come from it, as it has been sold to trader from Chikwawa, Sidik Mia at a whooping price of MK 200 million.
“MCP is gone, Chakwera has sold it to Mia who is a business man. DPP is the only party which has survived being in opposition and bounced back in power,if you want Malawi to develop, come and join DPP.” Said Mutharika.
He further added that Joyce Banda’s Peoples Party is history barely three years after it was kicked out of power and the founder still remains in exile, fearing that she may be prosecuted for her wrong doings in cash gate.
The president highlighted some of the major developments which DPP has delivered for the past three years mainly on infrastructure development across the country, economic development with inflation rate coming at 11.3 % from 24%, food security and water projects in the south, central and northern region to do away with water problems.
For the first time Mutharika came out in the open to tell the Malawi nation that he enjoys a cordial working relationship with his vice President, Right Honorable Saulos Klaus Chilima.
“I want you Malawians to know this, Chilima and myself are in good terms and there is nothing wrong about that.Nothing will change this, He is my son and I love him so much. Ignore what those others who do not wish DPP well say.”Stressed Mutharika amid cheers and ululation from the gathering.
At this point, he asked those in DPP to make sure that they continue to be united so that DPP emerge 2019 election winners with a landslide victory.
Among others who spoke at the rally were Vice President Saulos Chilima, Secretary General Jeff wa Jeffrey,Regional governor central Dean Josia Banda and Senior Chief Tsabango
