Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government under the wise and dynamic leadership of President Prof.Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM) continues to spread development projects across all the region, with the latest being the MK 1.7 billion hostel project which has just been completed at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), Bunda Campus in Lilongwe.
The 212 hostel project at the Bunda campus has been possible with funding from Norwegian Aid as a way supporting President Peter Mutharika’s government commitments towards achieving a better and a conducive tertiary education system in the country.
Luanar-Bunda Campus hostel is one of the best hostels in the country with modern facilities such as elevators, Kitchen, cafeteria, waiting room and carpark.
It is believed that the new hostel will help to reduce accommodation problems at the Bunda campus.
As of present, there are 1600 female students at Luanar- Bunda with only 500 female students being accommodated on campus and over 1100 female students staying in private rented places off campus.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Norwegian ambassador to Malawi,HE Kikan Hauggen said they were happy that the project has finally been completed and given over to the owners.
Representing the Minister of Education, PS Ken Ndala urged the students to use the facility wisely and take good care of it.
