Chakwera Calls Chatinkha Nkhoma Stupid Confusionist Paid By DPP To Divide MCP
As has been the tradition, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has swiftly dismissed Chatinkha Chizanja Nkhoma as someone who has been paid by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to confuse the country’s oldest party.
This comes barely a day after the billionaire woman joined the disgruntled voices calling for the resignation of the party’s leader, Lazarus Chakwera, on top of challenging him for the presidency.
MCP Administrative Secretary Portipher Chidaya told our publication on Thursday, that Chizanja Nkhoma is not even the legitimate member of the party.
“People should not take them seriously. They have been bribed by the DPP to confuse the party,” said Chidaya.
The last blow to Lazarus Chakwera’s political career was finally been rendered on Wednesday, as one of MCP most influential figures, Chatinkha Chidzanja Nkhoma emerged to challenge Chakwera on his undemocratic leadership style in the party.

At a press briefing convened in Lilongwe on Wednesday by the party’s disgruntled district chairpersons, Chatinkha threw all her weight behind calls for Chakwera to resign and pave way for someone more accommodating and not nepotistic.
Chakwera has been accused by his critics for consolidating power in Lilongwe and Dedza while disregarding other Central Region districts let alone the whole nation.
Almost 20 of the party’s 40 political districts have expressed dissatisfaction over Chakwera’s style of leadership. The battle has been in court for months now where the aggrieved party has been given relief through injunctions hence they can not be fired by unanimous decisions but party convention only.
The rift on MCP has even attracted the attention of former leader John Zenas Ungapake Tembo who despite his frail health has decided to mediate between the two ‘warring’ factions.
Chakwera however remains adamant and has unleashed his boys to manhandle those who oppose his leadership.
Besides grassroot members and district chairpersons, some national executive committee members including Felix Jumbe and Jessie Kabwila have been violently dealt with for their explicit opposition to the party leader.
Malawians however have expressed shock at how MCP is handling its affairs saying such attitude defeats the spirit of intra party and national dem
