Malawi To Have Free UNIMA Education Once MCP Voted Into Power-Chakwera
Leader of opposition in parliament has said Malawians should expect to have free University Of Malawi (UNIMA) education once Malawi Congress party is voted into power.
Addressing members of the press a while ago in reaction to the demonstrations which Chancellor College students organized in Zomba.
Chakwera said as MCP, they plan to introduce free education in all tertiary institutions being run by Malawi Government.
“If you need change then MCP is the change, vote for us in 2019 and you will not hear that students have gone to match in reaction to fees hiking because MCP will make sure that education will be totally for free in all government run colleges.”
Students from Chancellor College were holding illegal demonstration in reaction to the decision by University council to raise their fees.
It is believed that some property has been damaged by the irate students who were chanting songs claiming that they are responsible for the death of former President Bingu Wa Mutharika.
