Exclusive: Audit Report Reveals Joyce Banda’s Regime Has 96% Share in K577 Cashgate
Former ruling Peoples Party will shortly be sent into panic mode following inside revelations from Auditor General’s office that 70 percent of the K577 billion forensic audit report involves members of the party who plundered resources at Capital Hill between May 2013 and May 2014.
Over the past weeks PP parliamentarian Kamlepo Kalua has been pushing Auditor General Stevenson Kamphasa to release names of the people in the report which the opposition has claimed it implicates DPP members.
However, sources at Auditor General’s office who have seen the report have revealed that Kamlepo’s PP accounts for 70 percent of the names on the list.
The report implicates close associates to Joyce Banda in political and business circles who milked government coffers to fund the 2014 campaign.
The revelations are not the final conclusion and it is expected that the figure will rise from K403 billion to about k527 billion stolen in 2013 to March 2014. This will mean PP alone had a hand in almost 90 percent of the Cashgate they claim was done by the ruling DPP.
The revelations further say even Malawi Congress Party had a share of the cake. Some of their members are part of the report.
The Auditor General’s office has finally bowed down to pressure because the opposition has propagandized the issue to make it look like Kamphasa is protecting some powerful people.
