MCP leader Lazarus Chakwera might have fired dissenting grassroots leaders from the party but things are still falling apart for the pastor-cum- politician. The issue returns to court today to provide redress to the grassroot leaders who are the owners of the party.
The District Chairpersons have written three petitions to Chakwera demanding he resigns as party leader for nepotism and leadership intolerance.
Now MCP thugs are going into all 28 districts to threaten the chairpersons. Those who look soft-hearted are being coaxed with money and promises of reinstatement into leadership once they disown the petitions.
However, the chairpersons have stood their grounds in calling for an Emergency Convention ( according to Article 40 of MCP Constitution) to sort out this mess.
Unfortunately Chakwera for whatever his fears are , is adamant not to grant the majority wish to hold the Convention . This is tearing the Party apart .The first judgement which was granted for convention was later set aside on technicality grounds .
